"Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water'." (John 7:38)

"Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given us by God. And we impart this in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit, interpreting spiritual truths to those who are spiritual." (1Cor. 2:12-13)

Head Wound

Simply standing adamantly for something the Bible admonishes us to receive as children of God does not necessarily mean we have been purified in the Spirit of it. The fruit of our tree is the final judgment upon us, not our knowledge of that tree.

As we are quick to point out the discrepancies of others, let's first consider the plank we have impaled in our own eye. By the way, have you ever tried to produce a visual of a plank stuck in your eye? I believe there would be a much larger area affected than the eye. There would be severe head injury! This is very telling of how easily we can be perceived as hypocrites if, while correcting others, we haven't first worked out our own salvation with fear and trembling. That is, make sure you always fabricate a self reflecting mirror out of everything you want to use toward others.

PJR

"How can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me take out the speck that is in your eye,’ when you yourself do not see the log that is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take out the speck that is in your brother’s eye." (Luke 6:42)

  1. Indeed..."very telling of how easily we can be perceived as hypocrites...". Sadly, this has become the reputation of the western church because too many of us do not intimately know the One in whom we profess to believe, and thus, we do not show forth His life, light, and love...we have become, too much, a clanging gong to the world. Time to buy salve for our eyes!

I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see. (Revelation 3:18)
